CAMBRIDGE BOOKS RELEASES THE SECOND MR. PISH BOOK

Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure Makes Learning about the Outdoors Fun

Cambridge Books has just released Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure, a new educational children’s book by K. S. Brooks. It is currently available on Amazon.com and will become available through bookstores and other online venues soon.

Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure is a unique children’s book which follows the adorable Jack Russell Terrier as he explores a forest. The book features full-color photographs, most of which were taken in Stevens County , designed to entertain and teach children about their natural environment. The book trailer video was filmed entirely on location in Chewelah.

Teachers across the country are already excited about Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure, hailing it as a valuable educational tool. Ladell Black, founder of the Kapka Cooperative Primary School in Seattle says “Mr. Pish leads us on a fun outdoor exploration, one which children, parents and teachers can enjoy over and over again.”

Mr. Pish has had a hectic 2011, going on the road to promote outdoor learning and literacy to 31 States, Washington DC , and 4 Provinces of Canada, as well as appearing on morning news shows in Birmingham , Alabama and Spokane , Washington . He was selected by FIDO Friendly Magazine as one of the top 50 in the world of dogs for their celebratory 50th issue (July/August 2011), and his Facebook page has garnered fans from all over the world.

A portion of the profits from Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure will benefit the Arbor Day Foundation’s Nature Explore program, a comprehensive, research-based initiative helping children and families develop a profound engagement with the natural world, where nature is an integral, joyful part of children’s daily learning. More information about Mr. Pish’s Woodland Adventure and author K. S. Brooks is available at www.MrPish.com.

Truckin’ With Bubba and I Ain’t Bubba -read the whole article

Local Waitts Lake resident and author Hal Howard announces the publication of his book,

Truckin’ With Bubba  and I Ain’t Bubba, , a humorous account of his experiences on the road teaching others how to drive a big rig and earn a Class A Commercial Drivers License.   Hal spent the last five years of his twelve year trucking career as an instructor in the Prime School of Driving operated by Prime, Inc., of Springfield, Missouri, one of America’s largest long haul trucking companies.  He earned its prestigious Instructor of the Year award in 2007 before retiring to Waitts Lake to write.

What was your initial reaction to the book getting published?

Answer: It was a bit euphoric like when I passed the bar exam a long difficult task had been accomplished. I always wanted to be a writer. I guess the lesson to be learned is, if you work hard enough and live long enough, your fantasies may come true. HAROLD L.(Hal) HOWARD  (509) 937 4278

Stevens County Cat Care - Website

Cat Spay & Neuter Clinic 935-MEOW (935-6369)

(FYI) March 27th was just an extra special day. It was a rainy Sunday in Springdale at the Camas Valley Grange. And although the number, 106, may have been our smallest clinic thus far this year, it was at this little community, where we’ve been numerous times before, that we fixed our 5,000th cat! Miss 5000th Kitty was a pretty little Siamese mix belonging to Stevens County Fire Fighter, Tom Brown. We are unsure if she actually enjoyed her stay with us or not, but we all agreed that her future looks more pleasant for both herself and her owners now that she is no longer able to reproduce. The celebration didn’t last long as the volunteers and veterinarians enjoyed a quick piece of cake and set to work on the 5,001st cat.

Here’s to the next 5,000! Newsletter & Pictures
