Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary.  General Inquiries: 509-675-2539

For those of you who do not know Misty she is Linda Ritts niece and writes for the Outpost. Please share this story if you like and maybe we can get some donations for a much needed cause.

The Stevens County Cat Care and Colville Animal Sanctuary can use donations such as slightly used bath towels, cat litter, cat food, black garbage bags, printer ink, paper, tarps, cash, carriers, live traps, hay bales, dog food,

Recently the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary had a fire and could use donations to rebuild.

In addition to the fire, they are in a court battle over property left to them in a will, of which another Colville self proclaimed animal person is fighting them over it. They can't afford the lawyer bills this battle is building up.

Their landlord has just raised their rent on the property from $850. A month to $950.

Their spirits are at an all time low'. They are the only dog and cat shelter in Stevens County. I know how hard they work and how many animals they rescue and find homes for because I a friend of mine and a member of SCCC hauls donated cat and dog food from SCRAPS for them regularly (every week), and she sees them at all our spay/neuter clinics getting cats fixed before they find homes for them. They have (CVAS) placed over 300 cats this year and not sure how many dogs. They really need some publicity to help keep them going. They do have a regular article in a small local paper called the Silverado and it has helped....people are dropping by pet food and bales of straw for bedding and cords of wood, but they need more than that.

Their volunteers drive clear over to the coast to take cats to shelters and rescues who have space.....all at their own expense with no reimbursement for fuel or travel expenses.

The log structure that burned is the one on their website down a ways on the web site page....the one where the gal is shoveling snow in front of....http://www.colvillevalleyanimalsanctuary.com
