I see IAQ as an industry that wasn’t ready for itself. But, it’s getting there over time and it is encouraging to see new construction making better use of ‘free’, (previously discarded), energy. Oddly enough, in some cases IAQ has breathed new life into some of the older analog hydronic systems, largely due to the need for multiple stages of control at an increased cost.
That was the just of my previously written article... Now let’s look at what’s happened, since it was written.
IAQ sensors are being replaced with CO2 sensors, because there was no way to calibrate, segregate, or evaluate the particulate quantities of IAQ sensors. IAQ technology was a confidence scheme, a grift, a con that offered no means of proof. CO2 is measurable and provides the ability to calibrate.
When ‘they’ discovered how much controlling air quality actually costs, they grew fearful for their jobs respectively. They changed the references in attempt to skew the math, allowing higher values to appear as lower ones. In short... they are trying to cheat their own fear science.
ASHRAE is the ‘standards’ source of ‘they’, or ‘them’. Some of ‘they’, state that discharge air CO2 control is superior to zone or return air sampling.
This is not true under most conditions and it is a miserable alternative which requires additional math, to work at all. They hope you don’t figure that out, because it negates the economic savings, which was the reason why the lie was created.
In fact, much of our green energy stimulus spending is finding its way into the black holes of green energy performance contracting. All of the ‘team players’ pretend the myths are true, but they are not.
Some cost return estimates exceed forty years, while the system life projections fall between five and twenty years. Most team members and administrators will retire long before the lie is exposed.
Since green energy technology has no requirement for policing itself, it’s the ‘Wild West’ and each company for itself... and believe me, they are all out for themselves.
I know of systems upgrades that replace like for like functions, at substantial cost of course, while discarding the time proven methods of actual air quality control and energy cost savings.
Performance contracts allow liberal responsibility transfer of failed cost savings (payback) guarantees, which shift to the owner, negating the agreement. These agreements also include continued performance and quality assurance contracts, that must be maintained at a premium cost, to fulfill the performance contract requirements.
To the performance contracting company, it’s the scam that keeps on giving. Federal Government has a report line for Government fraud, waste and abuse, but it would require reporting an entire industry of abuse to its source. The whole industry is rife with corruption, fraud, waste and abuse from the infrastructure foreman to the Government bureaucrat in charge of the Public Private Partnership (PPP), so no one’s looking and no one wants to see.
Some can claim they didn’t know, but most in the know, claim they don’t want to know. When I bring up these issues, I add them to an invoice so there is a record of what they knew, and when they knew it.
This is an example of how your tax dollars are being squandered by a Government promoting the scam and demanding money for it, from you... how do you feel about that?
So now you can feel queasy because of unbridled Government ‘Green Energy’ corruption along with the higher levels of CO2 exposure you are likely being exposed to.
There’s no one in Government to tell. The only recourse would require greater scrutiny of all the public works construction, that seems to have increased as our economy, jobs, and personal income have declined.
I have no objection to responsible construction, but if I’m broke I have to stop spending. Why is unfunded Government spending acceptable?
If I am dismissed for sharing this information, then it will be by someone who is subject to as much or more professional jeopardy. Green is a monster loyal only unto itself.
