New! Moose Hollow Musings A Senior Perspective by safin  website

IWhen I bought my property last December, 2008 and wandered around the five acres I saw lots of Moose scat. My property also has wonderful little ravines or also known as “Hollows”, thus the name “Moose Hollow”.

On August 18, 2009 I moved to Moose Hollow, a significant day not only because of the move but also because it would have been my 43nd wedding anniversary if I had stayed married to my son’s father. I was also sick.  During the move, on my notorious access road, my 32.5 ft travel trailer decided to jack knife with the truck pulling it. After the excitement  continued

Wellness Clinic ~ Camas Valley Grange Springdale, WA. September 18th Saturday 1pm –4pm

Free Hearing Aid Testing, Free Blood Pressure Testing and Fire Prevention & Awareness Q&A, Unicare.

Upcoming Cat Spay/Neuter Clinic at Camas Valley Grange Sunday September 19th. Stevens County residents living at or below poverty level qualify for this low cost spay/neuter program and can make reservations for upcoming clinics by calling 1-509-935-MEOW (6369).

Stevens County Cat Care is able to offer this low cost service to lower income area residents thanks to local

volunteers, donations, and occasional small grants. However, as the economy worsens, donations trickle in slower and grants are harder to come by. Please help your local 501(c)(3) non-profit cat spay/neuter group continue to make a difference in our county. Monetary donations of any amount would be appreciated and can be mailed to Stevens County Cat Care at Post Office Box 776 Chewelah, WA 99109. Donations of your gently used old towels and various sizes of plastic dog or cat airline crates would also be greatly appreciated and are needed at every clinic. Also Pet Finder for lost or adoptable cats click here. Or for Camas Valley Grange information call 258-4268.

Sheriffs First Legislation Tenth Amendment Center A “Sheriffs First” bill would make it a state crime for any federal agent to make an arrest, search, or seizure within the state without first getting the advanced, written permission of the elected county sheriff of the county in which the event is to take place. Locally-elected sheriffs are accountable to the people and are supposed to be the chief law enforcement officer of the county, bar none. This bill puts teeth into the expectation that federal agents must operate with the approval of the sheriff, or not at all.It also gives the local sheriff tools necessary to protect the rights of the people of his county. There are exceptions in the legislation for “hot pursuit”, U.S. customs and border patrol, corrupt sheriffs, and more. (see SheriffsFirst.com)
